WHMIS stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a Canada-wide system that provides employers and workers with information on the hazardous products that are stored and used on work sites. Beginning in 2015, Canada is changing the original WHMIS 1988 system to align it with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The transition from WHMIS 1988 to WHMIS 2015 will be complete by December 1, 2018. This updated version of the course covers both WHMIS 1988 and the new version, WHMIS 2015.
